Scholarships – Financial Aid

Most of our partner Universities offers scholarships and financial aid to local/EU and International full-time students. The Scholarships usually are in the form of Academic Merit Scholarships, Athletics Scholarships, Need-based assistance and on-campus work-study programmes. All types of scholarships/financial aid available are explained below:

  • Academic Merit Scholarships / High School Scholarships
  • Athletics Scholarships
  • Need Based Assistance
  • On Campus Work-study Programme
  • Government Subsidy (Φοιτητική Χορηγία)
  • Government Financial Aid Grant (Φοιτητικό Πακέτο)

Academic Merit Scholarships / High School Scholarships

Based on Previous Performance

a) These Scholarships are limited (3-4 each year) and are usually given to first year local /EU students on the basis of their previous schooling performance. Could be a full, half or partial Scholarships that covers a percentage of tuition.

b) Most of the Universities offer automatic Scholarships based on High School Leaving Certificate to local/EU students, for the first academic year, according to the following High School grades:

Based on Academic Performance

These Scholarships are awarded to the top ranked students after the completion of the first two semesters.  The scholarships are awarded according to the student’s performance as follows:

Athletics Scholarships

Athletics scholarships are offered to students who participate in the sports teams of the Institutions. This kind of scholarships usually range from 5 to 50% of tuition and are based upon the participant’s level of performance.

Need-Based Assistance

Need-based assistance is given in the form of a discount, to local/EU students only, regardless of academic performance, as follows:

  • Student’s members of large families (minimum 4 children).
  • Families who have more than one child studying at the same Institution at the same semester.
  • Students coming from families with low income and /or with financial problems.

On Campus Work-Study Programme

Almost all our partner Universities offers a wide range of part-time, on-campus jobs to International and local/EU students. Students can work for a maximum of twenty hours a week and are compensated in the form of tuition and/or wages.

Government Subsidy (Κρατική/Φοιτητική Χορηγία)

Cypriots and a group of EU students are eligible to apply for the government subsidy (Φοιτητική Χορηγία). This subsidy goes up to €2,563 or €3,417, and is paid at the end of every academic year. Government Financial Aid Grant (Φοιτητικό Πακέτο)

The Cyprus Government sponsors part of the student’s Tuition, living expenses, travel expenses, books etc. All local/EU students are eligible to apply for this (FAG) at the beginning of each academic year.
